Women’s History Month is here! At Vintage Rock Club, we are paying tribute to the women who shaped Rock & Roll as we know it today.
From all that hair spray in the 80’s to the grunge ’90s, female musicians have left no doubt that they can go toe-to-toe with the big boys of rock.
To get a taste of the nightlife in New Orleans and all things rock, stop by Vintage Rock Club Friday and Saturday between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM.
Not only is Tina Turner regarded as the Queen of Rock & Roll, but she’s also one of the best-selling recording artists OF ALL TIME. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, Tina Turner made a lasting impression on the world of music with hits like “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and “Private Dancer.”
No “Women of Rock ‘N’ Roll” list would be complete without mention of Janis Joplin. She created a sound of her own - one part folk, one part pop, and one part rock - in the 60s. As one of the major artists featured at Woodstock in ‘69, she belted “Me and Bobby McGee”, “Mercedes Benz”, and “Piece of My Heart” in that unmistakably raspy voice. Is there any better combination than nightlife in New Orleans and a little Janis Joplin?
Singer. Songwriter. Four-time Grammy winner. Her evergreen hits “Love is a Battlefield” and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” launched her from everyday bank teller to an international sensation. Benatar is a force of nature, rocking entire arenas with her unforgettable vocals. She inherited those legendary pipes from her opera-singing mother, Millie.
If you’re looking to enjoy the nightlife in New Orleans, no evening would be complete without a little Stevie. A success with Fleetwood Mac and in her own right, Stevie Nicks’ unique style and one-of-a-kind sound have earned her a place in many a “Top Rockers” list - regardless of gender. This prolific artist gifted us with such sound gems as “Landslide”, “Rhiannon”, and “Draggin”.
Is there any song more iconic than “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll?” Joan Jett has worn many hats; singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and actress. There’s not much she can’t do. Vying for Tina Turner’s title of Queen of Rock & Roll, she’s undoubtedly the Godmother of Punk Rock.
