Is rock music better than any other genre? We’re not saying that other styles of music don’t have their place, but really...is there ever a bad time for rock music?
For us that have lived through the 60s, 70s, and 80s - or just love all things rock-n-roll - vintage rock will always have a place in our hearts. Here are 7 reasons why we absolutely love rock music - coming from a dance club near me!
There’s nothing wrong with auto-tune and techno beats, but it has nothing on a good old-fashioned guitar riff. There’s no such thing as computers when it comes to rock. Back in the day people got famous off of their legendary instrument skills alone. Just look at Slash, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend, Angus Young, and John Bonham - the list goes on and on.
I’m not ruling out every modern-day artist, but there were a lot more rock bands painstakingly penning their own music bad in the day. For example, both Paul McCartney and John Lennon (who wrote the Fab Four’s classic hits” made it into the top 5 of Rolling Stone magazine’s ‘100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time’. Jon Bob Jovi himself was inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame.
The creativity of rock artists extends beyond the music. Visually appealing vintage album covers are still making ‘rounds today. Need proof? Even 90’s and 2000’s babies recognize the Pink Floyd triangle with a rainbow to one side. And who could forget album artwork from the Grateful Dead. There was passion in the music that extended to the artwork that presented it. Did you know that Freddy Mercury himself designed Queen’s logo? You just don’t see the same type of creativity these days!
I don’t know about you, but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a new music video that isn’t filled with over-the-top dance moves and “twerking” motions. I’m just saying, classic rock music videos had a way of giving you goosebumps that other artists haven’t been able to replicate. Some music videos even held powerful messages such as ending violence and bullying. The Rolling Stones website place a number of rock genre music videos in the top 10 best music videos of all times including Nirvana ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, ‘Guns ‘n Roses ‘November Rain,’ ‘Pearl Jam ‘Jeremy,’ and many more.
There’s never a bad time to tune into a rock song. Rock-n-rolls best hits are kept alive decades after they were released in new movies, restaurants, cafes, weddings, events, even dance clubs near me- you name it! And it always sounds exciting and fresh, not to mention the number of covers and remixes YouTubers and modern-day artists make of these classics. The truth is - once you go rock, you never come back.
